KURUKSHETRA: The district police have solved a major armed robbery case involving the looting of a trader’s car at gunpoint. All five accused have been arrested and sent to judicial custody and remand, with the crime investigation agency (CIA)-I recovering Rs 63.96 lakh in cash, the robbed car, an additional vehicle used in the crime, and illegal weapons.
Acting on the directions of SP Kurukshetra Nitish Aggarwal, the CIA-I team cracked the case related to the armed robbery of a jeweller’s vehicle. The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep, Suraj alias Sonu, and Ashok Kumar, residents of Shimli village, and Sachin and Pradeep Kumar, residents of Madina village in Rohtak district. The accused were produced before a competent court. As per court orders, Sandeep, Suraj alias Sonu, and Ashok Kumar have been sent to judicial custody, while Sachin and Pradeep Kumar have been remanded to three days’ police custody for further interrogation.

According to the police spokesperson, the incident occurred on December 24, 2025. The complainant, Sagar Shah, a resident of Rohtak and a jeweller by profession, reported that on the day of the incident, his driver and another employee had travelled to Shahabad in his car for work. After completing their assignment, they were returning via NH 152-D.
When the car reached near Talheri village, two cars carrying unidentified youths stopped them.
As the driver stepped out, the accused allegedly pointed a pistol at him, assaulted him, looted the valuable items and cash kept in the car, snatched his mobile phone and threw it away. The assailants then forcibly took the car keys and fled from the spot with the trader’s car.
Following the complaint, a case was registered at Ismailabad police station, and the investigation was handed over to CIA-I.
Under the supervision CIA-I in-charge inspector Surender Kumar, a police team comprising ASI Randeep Singh, ASI Pravesh Kumar, ASI Kuldeep, ESI Ishwar, Head Constable Pradeep Kumar, Constable Satbir, and others conducted sustained efforts and technical investigation, leading to the arrest of all five accused.
During the operation, the police recovered the robbed car, Rs 63.96 lakh in cash, the vehicle used to execute the crime, and the weapons used in the robbery.
Kurukshetra Police stated that further investigation is underway to ascertain the accused’s involvement in other criminal activities and to recover any remaining proceeds linked to the crime.
